I’ve challenged the team to nominate their personal favourite brunch spot in Chester. For me, it’s most definitely here. It’s style and substance in abundance. Inside, the place is beautiful, illuminated in a soft pink glow (thanks to a little neon lighting), but they don’t rest on being pretty; the menu is extensive and scrumptious. Vegetarians and Vegans have been lovingly catered for – something for everyone. And where else can you fill up on food and flowers? You’re surrounded by aesthetically pleasing touches from the great outdoors (and envious interiors) – watering cans, wild flowers, delicate vases and potted plants. A true feast for the eyes. Pancakes and posies anyone?
Eggs all ways, avocado regularly stars, french toast, frittata, the much needed hangover breakfast (also comes in vegan variety), granola with fresh fruit. And the best news? Brunch is served all day. Their range of teas is a delight, and provided by Tea From The Manor. Filter coffee too for the caffeine addicts.
The granola is great if you want something light, drizzled in honey and yoghurt (and when I went) a smattering of blueberries – they’ll decorate with the best fruit available on the day (£3.50) I scoffed this down with a red berry tea which was full-bodied and sweet.
Food and drinks here are reasonable and competitive, especially when (in my experience) they’re consistently top notch and presented with panache. To give you an idea, their BLT is £5, Eggs Florentine is £6, the Flower Cup Breakfast and something more exotic, like Frittata will cost you £7.50 each. Flowers are priced by stem – should you be inclined to get floral.
This botanical coffee shop is off the beaten track. Once you’re up on the rows you walk past a series of closed down and under offer shop fronts, and there it is, a hidden gem, quietly existing. You’ll spot an array of greenery for sale out front.
