So this is it – it’s been two weeks of hell on earth.
I’m just kidding.
It’s actually been such a great couple of weeks getting used to my new routine. You’d be surprised how little you need to change; just small tweaks here and there, a bit more planning and boom you’re on the fitness train.
How do I feel? Well, I’ll be totally honest, my body hasn’t changed drastically. I can see some tiny abs peeking through if I tense really hard, but I didn’t expect to see anything major so early on. I still have six weeks left.
Physically, I feel fitter. I can push myself harder and lift a touch heavier. My energy levels are up and after resting up I can’t wait to get back into the gym. With regards to my mental wellbeing – the support from the Facebook group and the PTs themselves makes it a much more social event and not just about working out, which I love.
What have I actually done? Hitting the gym four times a week may sound intense but it’s not when you break it down. Every other day I give up just one hour of my time to push my body to the limit. As I’m going so often I’m making friends *oooh fwends* and getting to know the PTs.
Am I starving myself? Not at all. In fact, it’s quite the opposite; I am full to bursting pretty much all of the time as my calories have increased from my norm. I’m a lot more conscious of what I put into my body, feeding myself the right things at the right times trying to balance the dreaded macros. These macros are probably the hardest part of the challenge; it’s a new way of thinking and adjusting your outlook on food to balance what your body needs to get the desired results. It’s all a massive learning curve and I’m still struggling sometimes but hey, I’m only two weeks in.
Any updates? To be honest I’ve refrained from weighing myself and updating my measurements as I’m worried there won’t be much difference. The numbers on the scales don’t mean anything to me anyway and currently, I’m focussing my energy on increasing my fitness levels and getting stronger. If that means I put on a few pounds then so be it!
